First Tesla Cybertruck Recall in Canada Affects Virtually All Units

Tesla’s electric pickup so far has been hit with eight safety recalls in the U.S., but the latest to be added to the list is actually the first that also applies to the Canadian market, where deliveries began in November of last year.

All Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023 and February 27, 2025 are being recalled including 46,096 in the U.S. and another 1,995 on our side of the border.

The problem, which was initially discovered on January 7, is that the stainless steel trim panel on each side of the windshield and roof a.k.a. cantrail assembly could loosen and detach from the vehicle, creating a road hazard for following drivers and increasing the risk of injury or a collision.

As of March 14, Tesla had received 151 warranty claims related to this problem, but was not aware of any accidents or injuries caused by such delamination.

Following an investigation, Tesla has concluded that the adhesive used to secure this body component is susceptible to embrittlement by external environmental elements. It will be replaced by an upgraded adhesive that is not susceptible to environmental embrittlement. Extra reinforcements will be made to the body structure, as well.

Owners will receive an email advising them to contact a Tesla Service Centre to arrange for the replacement of the cantrail assembly at no cost.

Tesla started to incorporate the remedy into its assembly line on March 21. What’s more, all completed units that have not been sold yet will be fixed before delivery to customers.

In early February, Tesla slashed $23,000 off the Cybertruck’s Canadian prices as it stopped selling the Foundation Series launch model. The dual-motor Cybertruck AWD now comes with an MSRP of $114,990 instead of $137,990, which doesn’t include freight, PDI and dealer fees or the applicable taxes such as the federal luxury tax. Meanwhile, the tri-motor Cyberbeast is down from $165,990 to $142,990.
