Top 10 Most Affordable AWD Vehicles in 2025

Earlier this year, we brought you top-10 lists of the most affordable cars, SUVs/crossovers and electric vehicles available in Canada in 2025. Now, since many drivers across the country have to face all sorts of road and weather conditions, it only makes sense to shift our focus to all-wheel drive vehicles.

The Car Guide has once again looked at the entire Canadian market to find the cheapest AWD vehicles in 2025. You can find the top 10 below. Prices include MSRPs and applicable fees such as freight and PDI.

10. 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross – Starting from $32,523

With a 10-year/160,000 km powertrain warranty, attractive price, commendable build quality and proven reliability, the Eclipse Cross has many great attributes. Some will say it suffers from being stuck between the smaller RVR and the larger Outlander. AWD is standard on all models.

9. 2025 Subaru Crosstrek – Starting from $32,363

The Crosstrek boasts a practical size and an excellent all-wheel drive system. Compared with the Impreza hatchback it’s based on, this small crossover offers a higher seating position and more room in the second row. Base models make do with a 2.0-litre engine delivering modest performance.

8. 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross – Starting from $32,320

The Corolla Cross has a lot going for it, starting with a versatile interior and optional all-wheel drive system. Many people also turn to this small crossover due to its efficient performance and Toyota’s reputation for reliability. The 2026 model going on sale this fall gets a new front fascia.

7. 2025 Mazda CX-30 – Starting from $32,063

Mazda's subcompact SUV benefits from the i-Activ system as standard. If you prefer the handling dynamics of a car, there's still an AWD-equipped Mazda3 you can buy, but the least expensive one costs $34,713 in sedan configuration, making it more expensive than the CX-30.

6. 2025 Nissan Kicks – Starting from $32,052

The Kicks has received a brand new look, new technologies, increased output (now rated at 141 hp) and optional all-wheel drive for 2025. A great-sounding audio system and class-leading cargo space are also part of the mix. Alas, these changes have substantially bumped the subcompact SUV’s price.

5. 2025 Toyota Corolla Hybrid – Starting from $31,415

The Corolla Hybrid is based in part on the technology of the old Prius. Extremely efficient, its average fuel consumption is 4.7 L/100 km, rising to 4.9 L/100 km with all-wheel drive. Competitors from Hyundai and Honda have to make do with front-wheel drive.

4. 2025 Hyundai Kona – Starting from $31,285

The latest Kona stands out with bold styling and more interior space than its predecessor where rear passengers and cargo are concerned. It’s actually one of the best small crossovers in that department. All-wheel drive is optional in base Essential trim.

3. 2025 Kia Seltos – Starting from $30,531

The Seltos was refreshed and improved last year, delighting shoppers after a practical, high-value pick in the subcompact SUV segment. This little Kia also owes its popularity to a spacious interior and trunk, not to mention plenty of content. LX and EX models offer a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

2. 2025 Subaru Impreza – Starting from $30,459

The Impreza is Subaru’s entry-level car but doesn't sell nearly as well as the Crosstrek. Still, the five-door hatchback proves a smart pick with good value. It also comes with an acclaimed all-wheel drive system as standard, not to mention generous interior room.

1. 2025 Mitsubishi RVR – Starting from $29,923

The RVR is one of the oldest products you can buy right now. Yet, it continues to enjoy decent success thanks to its low price, proven drivetrain technologies including a capable all-wheel drive system, great reliability, plus a warranty that is virtually unbeatable in the industry.
