Your Honda or Acura May Need a Brake Pedal Fix
Honda has announced a recall of just over 15,000 vehicles in Canada to inspect their brake pedal assemblies. Affected models include the 2023-2025 Honda Pilot and Acura MDX as well as the 2021-2025 Acura TLX.
Due to a manufacturing error, the brake pedal pivot pin may not have been staked, which may allow the pedal to shift out of position, the automaker explains. This could result in lateral movement of the brake pedal, which may cause unintended application or compromise the driver’s ability to safely slow or stop the vehicle.

In addition, the issue could cause an abnormal brake pedal feeling during operation, illuminate the brake malfunction light in the instrument cluster or cause the brake lights to remain lit even when the brake pedal is not applied.

Honda Canada has not received any confirmed reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue so far.
Owners of all affected units will be contacted by mail in July and asked to take their vehicle to a Honda or Acura dealer for an inspection. If necessary, the dealer will replace the brake pedal assembly at no cost. In the meantime, you can visit www.Honda.ca/recalls or www.Acura.ca/recalls to find out if you Pilot, MDX or TLX is part of the recall or not.
Earlier in 2025, approximately 17,000 units of these same vehicles were recalled due to improper programming of the Fuel Injection Electronic Control Unit (FI-ECU). Sudden changes in the throttle could illuminate the check engine light and cause the engine to lose drive power, hesitate and/or stall. The remedy in this case is nothing more than a software update to the FI-ECU.
